HATE MAILER CONVICTED Police officer Wim Elbers ( ), a member of the police forensics squad in Brussels and a dedicated militant of the far right Vlaams Blok, charged with spreading of racist propaganda via news groups on the internet was given a suspended six-months prison sentence on the 22nd of december. Judge Van Gheluwe found Elbers guilty of all charges and ordered the racist policeman to pay a 200,000 Belgian franks fine (= £ 3,000) as well. Half of this sum has to be paid to the governemental anti-racist institute CGKR/CECLR lead by Johan Leman. It was the CGKR/CECLR that brought Elbers into court a couple of months ago after the reforms of the anti-racist law. Elbers refused to show up in court and remained unatainable for the press in the following weeks. He faces a disciplinary punishment of his employer (the forensic police) as well and could be dismissed. At this moment he hides away from the world with a sick leave for an undefinite time .To be continued. Wim Haelsterman for AFF-Verzet/Résistances, Brussels.

RESISTANCES:
THE ENGLISH PAGES RésistanceS wishes to make a practical contribution to the fight against fascism, racism, xenofobia, extreme nationalism and the paralysing "pensée unique". RésistanceS is fully independent and is not linked to any political organisation whatsoever. RésistanceS is put together by a team of volunteers with different ethnical and socio-cultural backgrounds from all over the country (Brussels, Wallonia and Flanders). Our primary objectives are: to expose the extreme right, to analyse the conditions allowing neo-fascism to develop, to prove the worthlessness of right-wing extremist alternatives, to denounce the influence of neo-fascism on mainstream politics, to establish an anti-fascist network for individuals and organisations Write RésistanceS 9, Quai du Commerce B1000 Bruxelles Belgium |
